Yingjie Zhao obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2011 under the supervision of Prof. Li Yuliang. From 2011 to 2016, he did post-doctoral research at the University of Geneva and ETH Zürich with Prof. Stefan Matile and Prof. Dieter Schlüter successively. In 2016, he went back to China and joined Qingdao University of Science and Technology. Currently, he is a full professor. The main research interests of Zhao are two-dimensional polymers and supramolecular self-assembly. The Zhao group focus on the design and synthesis of crystalline, highly conjugated two-dimensional and three-dimensional polymers. Through dynamic covalent chemistry, self-assembly and other methods, the preparation of highly crystalline organic two-dimensional and three-dimensional materials in the solution phase, interface and single-crystal phase is realized. The applications of this new material in the fields of photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, and energy storage are then explored.
